Wilson Fermions at Finite Density as a Band Theory

چکیده
We analyze the feasibility of using Wilson fermions at finite density to study the physics of conduction electrons in band theory. We only include the interaction of the fermions with an external electromagnetic field. We study properties such as the density of states or the electric conductivity, both by analytical means and with numerical methods based on a path-integral formalism, finding a nice agreement. The numerical methods are generalizable to systems with dynamical interactions. PACS numbers: 71.20.-b, 71.10.Fd, 11.15.Ha

Lattice QCD at finite T and μ
Recent results of lattice QCD at finite temperature and density are reviewed. At vanishing density the transition temperature, the equation of state and hadron properties are discussed both for the pure gauge theory and for dynamical staggered, Wilson and overlap fermions. The second part deals with finite density. There are recent results for full QCD at finite temperature and moderate density...

متن کاملHamiltonian lattice quantum chromodynamics at finite density with Wilson fermions
Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) at sufficiently high density is expected to undergo a chiral phase transition. In Lagrangian SU(3) lattice gauge theory, the standard approach breaks down at large chemical potential μ, due to the complex action problem. (QCD at large μ is of particular importance for neutron star or quark star physics). The Hamiltonian formulation of lattice QCD doesn’t encounter s...
متن کاملTricritical point of lattice QCD with Wilson quarks at finite temperature and density
First principle study of QCD at finite temperature T and chemical potential μ is essential for understanding a wide range of phenomena from heavy-ion collisions to cosmology and neutron stars. However, in the presence of finite density, the critical behavior lattice gauge theory without species doubling, is unknown. At strong coupling, we examine the phase structure on the (μ, T ) plane, using ...
